Why have the emails disappeared from the Inbox?

There are several situations that can cause emails to disappear from the Inbox. Below we present the most common causes and how they can be checked or resolved.

1. Using the POP3 protocol

If you use the POP3 protocol in an email application (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.), messages are downloaded locally and, most often, deleted from the server. Thus, if you access the account from another device or via Webmail, the emails will no longer appear in the Inbox.

To avoid this behavior, make sure the option “Leave a copy of messages on the server” is checked in your email application. A recommended alternative is configuring the account using the IMAP protocol, which synchronizes messages between the server and all devices.

2. Storage space is 100% full

If the server space is completely full, new messages can no longer be processed or displayed. In this situation:

  • Emails may temporarily not appear in the Inbox.
  • Errors may occur in the email client.

Check in cPanel or in the account management interface if the allocated space is exceeded. After freeing up space, the messages should reappear automatically.

3. Emails were accidentally deleted or moved

Log into Webmail and check:

  • The Trash folder – recently deleted emails may be found here.
  • The Spam folder – sometimes filters misclassify incoming messages.
  • Other custom folders – if you use filters or rules, messages may have been automatically moved.

If emails are completely missing, open a ticket with the Technical department to restore messages from a backup.

4. Accessing the wrong email account

Make sure you are logged into the correct email account. This can happen, especially if you have multiple email addresses saved in the app or browser, that you accidentally access a different account.

Check the full address (e.g., [email protected]) on the login page or in the email app.

5. Temporary issues with the application or server

In some cases, emails disappearing from the Inbox may be caused by:

  • A temporary display error in the email application
  • Connection problems to the server
  • Synchronization settings disabled

Restart the email application, reconnect the account, or check direct access via Webmail to confirm if the issue persists.

What can you do next?

  • Check via Webmail if the messages are truly missing from the server.
  • Contact us if you cannot find the messages, to check restoration options from backup.
  • Use IMAP instead of POP3 if you want to securely access messages from multiple devices.
