Why is my domain suspended?

The most common reason for a domain suspension (for extensions other than .ro or .eu) is the failure to confirm the email address associated with that domain.

Note: If your domain is registered elsewhere, you will need to contact your domain registrar for assistance.

Did you register a new domain or recently update your domain’s contact information? If so, you may have missed the required verification step. If this step is missed, your domain can be placed in a clientHold status. This status means the domain is suspended. You can confirm if your domain is in clientHold status by checking the status line on a WHOIS lookup, such as lookup.icann.org.

When ordering a new domain, do not use an email address for contact that is on the new domain itself. For example, if you order the domain cartedebuzunar.com, DO NOT use [email protected] as the contact email because you will receive the confirmation message at this address, but since the domain is inactive until activated, it is practically impossible to confirm the email address.

The Internet governing body, ICANN, requires that all domains have current contact information. When you update this information, an automatic email is sent to verify that you, the domain owner (or registered applicant), made the changes. ICANN also requires annual verification emails to ensure contact details remain up to date. See how the verification process works.

This verification email is sent to the registration contact email shown in the Contact Information tab of your domain control panel. Always ensure you keep an updated registrant email address in your contact information. Otherwise, you won’t receive the verification email. The verification email comes from [email protected]. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, check your spam folder. If it’s in spam, please mark it as Not Spam.
